Where do I start?

If you are anything like me that’s usually the question I always begin with before taking on any type of community service project. Here are some tips to help your 7 Day Chapter get started.

1. Do what you love.

This is the best place to start when thinking of a place to volunteer. If you like painting, find an old house or fence that could use a touch up. Maybe you like hanging out and playing games with kids, find a Boys and Girls club or a place like Buckner’s Children Home in your community were you and your friends could lend a hand.

2. Think Simple.

You don’t have to plant an entire garden your first outreach. Start with something manageable like picking up trash around your neighborhood or taking a few hours to volunteer with a local homeless shelter. If you can,  take one or two people with you on your first 7 Day project and as you continue to do more and your chapter grows you can take on larger projects.

3. Ask Questions.

Need is all around you, but sometimes its hard to find. Use a search engine to find non profit organizations in your community or ask parents and friends if they know an organization that needs help. Rarely has there ever been a time when I stumbled across a service opportunity by chance,  but trust me, they are out there and they need you now!

So there you have it. Ready to get started? Awesome!

Oh and remember to send in any photos, videos or 7 Day stories after your service projects and we will post them on our 7 Day blog. Here is the link -> http://blog.changethescore.com/submit/

Change The Score!

Hey Extended Project 7 Family, This week we have a very special promotion going on our Facebook and Twitter accounts. For every new fan we acquire on Facebook and every new Twitter follower, Project 7 will donate funds to Children’s Hunger Fund to provide a meal to a person in need in a US community. This donation is in addition to our everyday giving from the purchase of our products (For example: buy a “FEED the Hungry” tray of gum, provide a meal, ect.). It’s that simple. If you’re not a fan of us on Facebook, click “Like” and together we’ll provide a meal. The same thing applies for Twitter, follow us and we’ll provide a meal. Get it? Good. Now get to following/liking! Please reblog!Love, The Project 7 Family

7 Day - Arlington Texas!

On March 8, Project 7 spent the afternoon with a very special group of people at Mission Arlington for our monthly “7 Day” volunteer event.  Mission Arlington is located in Arlington, Texas, a city which gets much more publicity and fame as being “home of the Dallas Cowboys” rather than a city that provides a tremendous service to their community through the help of Mission Arlington.

Mission Arlington just celebrated its 25th year of service, which speaks volumes for its dedication to helping others. As they spoke to us with their warm smiles and provided us with the details of our task that day, they made a statement that really resonated with us. That statement was ”we believe that God is up to something big in the world and more people than ever before are seeing the need and responding to His call to ³take church to the people.²

This means they don’t sit and wait for people to come to them. They go and seek and bring the word of God to others. They prepare supplies for those in need and take them where they are needed and they do an outstanding job not only providing resources for the community, but also by providing continued support to help better the lives of so many in need.

As we sorted through donated clothing to prepare boxes to be taken out to those in need, we observed the large amount of donated items, which is a very positive thing to see. However, the need for volunteers to help them continue running efficiently is greatly needed. Donated items are what allows them to continue this wonderful cause through resources, but it’s just as important to help them sort, organize and distribute.

Please visit www.missionarlington.org/contact/volunteers and volunteer today! And if you’re just itching to visit Cowboy stadium, it’s right up the street from Mission Arlington.
